Why the Monday drop is so big

Weekday earnings fall sharply after a strong weekend for almost every film, and this was the second Monday, so a big fall was expected. The film is still showing on more than 13,000 shows across India, helped by the fact that no major new Hindi film released last Friday. The makers of Udta Teer moved that film from 9 October to 23 October to avoid the clash.

Records the film has already set

  • Ajay Devgn's highest-grossing film as a lead actor, ahead of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (Rs 279.59 crore domestic).
  • His first film to cross Rs 300 crore in India.
  • Fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2026 in India, ahead of Mirzapur: The Movie (Rs 229 crore).
  • Second highest worldwide Hindi grosser of 2026, behind only Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge (Rs 1813 crore).

Its next domestic target is Border 2, at Rs 329 crore. Drishyam 3 is at Rs 315.25 crore net, so it needs about Rs 14 crore more.

New releases coming for Drishyam 3

  • 15 October: the Hindi-dubbed version of the Tamil film Jailer 2, though not on a wide Hindi release because PVR INOX and Cinepolis are not showing it.
  • 16 October: Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam (Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa Gabbi) and the horror comedy Nayyi Naveli (Yami Gautam).
  • 23 October: Udta Teer (Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan).

The rest of the Monday box office

According to ABP Live, which also uses Sacnilk early trends: The One (Siddharth Malhotra, Tamannaah Bhatia) made about Rs 35 lakh on day 18 and has Rs 68.70 crore net in India. Nani's The Paradise made about Rs 24 lakh on day 19 for Rs 120.27 crore net. Hanuman Ansh is still running well in its tenth week.
